Incidental exercise

IMG_00000844Did another mile today.  But first day in 6 I was back at the gym.

Been throwing boxes around the office daily, and my back was logging its displeasure with too much box moving.  The swim was good.

Feeling pretty good.

I was very dressed up Tuesday, was conducting interviews at work, so wanted to set a tone of professionalism, and was wearing a dress, and heels.  But I had to run to the grocery store.  Was stopped 3 times in the store by people I know and strangers telling me how awesome I looked.

I’ve decided to grocery shopped dressed to the nines from now on!  It’s good for the self esteem.

My knee started really complaining near the end of the day so I ended up putting my running shoes on.  Who knew the look I’d end up with.  Wore this to the movie theater…people were a little unsure if this was intentional or not.  Too much fun.

But that leads me to the next point on the ‘shame’ rant:

Moms, put on that bathing suit

They go to the pool with their kids, but they only put their feet in the pool. They sit on the sidelines, too concerned about what they look like and what others will think to embrace the joy of swimming with their kids.

Or they go to the beach, but stay under the umbrella instead of running into the ocean.

And it makes me incredibly sad.

Because when women stay on the sidelines because of insecurity, we are modeling unhealthy behavior to our children and we are missing out.

I use to do that.  But I stopped.  And yes I stopped hiding me, prior to my fitness efforts.  No longer would I hide, listen to the voices in my head.

So get out there!
